BRING BACK LICKS

Chapter 2 Candidates for Corporal Punishment
As of 12:20pm, May 8, 2010 - 4 CANDIDATES are for this movement!! And no, this site is not intended to promote any of them.
The election is for 3 of the 9 seats on the Dallas school board and will be held Saturday, May 8, 2010. Here is how the candidates feel about bringing back corporal punishment.
PLACE 4
> Camille White (works in public relations)
Needs "more data" at this point.
> Nancy Bingham (current Dallas school board member)
Has not returned my call.
> Jessie Diaz (business owner and local LULAC leader)
He says YES.
PLACE 5
> Daphne Edmond (a regular parent involved with PTA)
She says YES.
> Claudia Fowler (Urban League of greater Dallas)
She says YES with proper training involved.
> Lew Blackburn (current Dallas school board member)
He says YES with parental consent.
I still like Lew's "Gun" comparison on the previous page!
PLACE 7
> Eric Cowan (Works in the hotel industry)
Left him several messages asking his stance on the issue. He will not return call and respond.
> Luis Trujillo (Ownd income tax business)
Have not heard back from him.
CURRENT ADMINISTRATION
Now remember it takes 5 of 9 votes for the Dallas school board trustees to pass new policy. So here's a look at some of the current board member views along with the Superintendent's.
> Adam Medrano (Current school board president)
Says it will NOT appear on the board's agend. Sounds like a no.
> Bruce Parrott (Current school board member)
Says Heck no.
> Michael Hinijosa (Dallas ISD Superintendent)
Says he's firmly against it.
So if the top brass is against bringing back the paddle, then WHAT exactly are they going to do about the SHARP RISE of in-school and out-of-school suspensions since they voted out corporal punishment in 2004-05? You saw the numbers on the previous page?
